Getting down to the endo of my @johnccampbellfolkschool retrospective (to clarify, this class with Betty Maney took place at the end of February). Rim stock shaped and fit to the basket. Initially I was very happy with the heavy outer rim I was able to get out of my white oak stock. Typically I love a chunky rim on my baskets, but Cherokee baskets tend to have lighter rims. After cutting the splint to width, we laid out the base with alternating natural and dyed splints. Notice the key-hole joint in the base of the handle.
